The International Zinc Association
Zelixir Inc. is engaged under contract to be the official Canadian representative office of the International Zinc Association (IZA). The IZA was founded in 1990 and is a non-profit organization based in Brussels, Belgium. IZA is the only global industry association dedicated exclusively to the interests of zinc and its users. Operating internationally and locally through contractors and its regional affiliates, IZA helps sustain the long-term global demand for zinc and its markets by promoting such key end uses as corrosion protection for steel and the essentiality of zinc in human health and crop nutrition. Zelixir works primarily on the Technology & Market Development programs within IZA. www.zinc.org
INTERZINC
Zelixir is actively involved in delivering educational seminars for INTERZINC. INTERZINC is a market development and technology transfer group, founded in 1986, that is dedicated to increasing awareness of zinc casting alloys among engineers, designers and specifiers. It aims to accomplish this mission through technology transfer, technical services and designer education programs. Casting technology is not a process frozen in time. Ongoing advancements in zinc casting technology greatly benefit those who select materials for industrial and consumer products. INTERZINC’s programs are structured to assist manufacturers in determining how zinc can be cost-effectively employed for a wide range of end uses. www.interzinc.com
Galvanized Rebar
Zelixir promotes the use of galvanized reinforcing steel. Reinforced concrete is one of the most widely used among all modern construction materials. It is inexpensive, readily available, has a range of attractive properties and characteristics and is suitable for a variety of building and construction applications. It is also used in a number of exposure conditions, which in some cases highlights one of the main weaknesses of reinforced concrete: the potential for unprotected steel reinforcement (rebar) to corrode, resulting in staining, cracking and failure of the surrounding concrete. Zelixir works to educate construction specifiers on the benefits of zinc coated rebar. www.galvanizedrebar.com
Galvinfo Centre
Zelixir regularly lectures at the Galvinfo Centre Hot Dip Galvanizing Sheet Production course. The GalvInfo Center was established in 1999 to serve current and potential users of steel sheet coated with zinc-containing coatings. The course deals primarily with the operation of continuous galvanizing lines, including the metallurgical processes involved, and covers coating line production processes, including seam welding, cleaning, annealing, coating weight control, galvannealing, post galvanizing surface treatments, and zinc bath management principles and technology. www.galvinfo.com
